Wind-Tunnel Studies on Sand Sedimentation Around Wind-Break Walls of Lanxin High-Speed Railway II and Its Prevention

Wind-break walls along Lanxin High-Speed Railway II were studied and approved as effective measures to reduce strong wind damage the high-speed trains. The results show that sand sedimentation on leeward sides of wind-break railway within Gobi Desert could significantly threaten operation safety running Different from current prevention without adequate consideration deposition process airborne particles, this study revealed mechanism three different terrains. A series wind-tunnel experiments carried out measure horizontal velocity, number density, transport flux, rate it was found speed particles first increased then decreased track, peak over concave subgrade much smaller than those convex flat subgrades. density flux largest subgrade, smallest subgrade. particle distribution also some proposed prevent walls.
